Microsoft Teams
Connect Teams once. Your company's Microsoft admin approves it for everyone; until then, people connect with limited access.
Early access
You can connect Microsoft Teams today. Reading channel messages, chats and meeting transcripts is coming soon.
Admin approval, explained
Microsoft lets ordinary users approve only some permissions. Reading channel messages, chats, transcripts and recordings needs your company's Microsoft admin.
So SeamTrail connects in two levels:
- There is one button: Connect. SeamTrail first asks Microsoft for the full list of permissions.
- A Microsoft admin connects? Microsoft shows them a box to approve for the whole organisation. One approval covers everyone in the company.
- Someone else connects? Microsoft says no to the full list. SeamTrail then asks only for what that person may approve. The connection shows Limited access.
- Copy link for your admin. In the org's Settings → Tools, click it and send the link to your Microsoft admin. They open it and approve. They don't need a SeamTrail login. The link works for one week.
- Upgrade access. After your admin approves, click Upgrade access. Your connection gets full access, with no new prompt.
The admin's approval is recorded in the audit log.
Even with full access, SeamTrail acts as the person who connected. It reads only what that person can see in Teams.
Permissions
SeamTrail asks for the full list once, so your admin approves only one time. Many of these are for parts that are coming soon.
| Level | Permission | Why SeamTrail asks for it |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | User.Read, User.ReadBasic.All | Know who connected, and show people's names. |
| Basic | Team.ReadBasic.All, Channel.ReadBasic.All | See your teams and channels. |
| Basic | ChannelMessage.Send, ChatMessage.Send | Post a message when someone asks SeamTrail to (coming soon). |
| Basic | Calendars.ReadWrite, OnlineMeetings.ReadWrite | Read meetings, and set one up when someone asks (coming soon). |
| Basic | offline_access | Stay connected without signing in again. |
| Full | ChannelMessage.Read.All, Chat.Read | Read channel messages and chats (coming soon). |
| Full | TeamMember.Read.All | See who is in a team (coming soon). |
| Full | Channel.Create | Create a channel for a feature (coming soon). |
| Full | OnlineMeetingTranscript.Read.All, OnlineMeetingRecording.Read.All, OnlineMeetingArtifact.Read.All | Read meeting transcripts and recordings (coming soon). |
Basic permissions: anyone can approve them. Full permissions: only a Microsoft admin can approve them.
SeamTrail never posts or creates anything unless someone asks it to.
