Connect an AI assistant

Give Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, Codex and other assistants the same feature memory, over MCP.

Your AI assistant can read SeamTrail's memory and write back what it learns. Then every assistant on your team works from the same picture.

Assistants connect over MCP (Model Context Protocol). MCP is the standard way AI assistants connect to other tools.

The MCP address

https://mcp.seamtrail.com/mcp

The short form https://mcp.seamtrail.com works too.

You don't need to copy a token. The assistant opens SeamTrail's sign-in page in your browser. You sign in and click Allow.

Add SeamTrail to your assistant

  1. Run this in your terminal:

    claude mcp add --transport http seamtrail https://mcp.seamtrail.com/mcp
  2. Start Claude Code and type /mcp.

  3. Pick seamtrail and click Authenticate.

  4. Your browser opens. Sign in and click Allow.

Add --scope user to the command to have SeamTrail in every project.

No sign-in? Use a token

Some tools can't sign in by themselves. For those, make a token by hand.

  1. In SeamTrail, click your avatar (top right) → Connect an AI assistant.
  2. Name the assistant, for example "Cursor". This name labels its notes in memory.
  3. Click Create token. Copy it now. It is shown only once.
  4. Send it as a header with every request.
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seamtrail": {
      "url": "https://mcp.seamtrail.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer <your token>" }
    }
  }
}

A tool that can only start local (stdio) servers can use a bridge: npx mcp-remote https://mcp.seamtrail.com/mcp.

What your assistant can read

ToolWhat it gives
list_featuresThe features you can see. Your assistant calls this first.
feature_contextEverything about one feature in one file: summary, decisions with reasons, what is not settled, drift, open blockers, risks and questions — and your own tickets and news.
get_featureA feature's stages, teams, people and linked items.
get_feature_statusWhere a feature stands: summary, recent changes, open drift, team progress.
search_memorySearch a feature's memory.
recent_changesWhat changed in the last days.
get_ticketsThe feature's Jira tickets: status, owner, team, blockers, environment.
ticket_detailsOne ticket in full, with drift on it.
team_statusHow one team is doing.
person_workWhat a person is working on.
get_chainWhere a ticket came from and what came from it: doc, blockers, pull requests, deploys.
ask_featureAsk a question in plain words.
list_promotion_rulesThe feature's deploy rules.
search, fetchSearch across your features. ChatGPT uses these.

What your assistant can change

ToolWhat it does
rememberSaves one plain sentence as memory: a decision (with the reason), a fact, a blocker, a risk, a question or a status.
resolveMarks a memory as no longer true. It stays in history.
settle_questionReplaces an earlier decision with your note. Only after you say yes.
add_dependencyMakes a ticket or a team wait for another one before it deploys.
add_checklist_itemAdds a step to tick before each environment.
undo_changeUndoes one of the changes above.

Your assistant should ask you before it changes anything. Every change comes back checked, with a way to undo it. Nothing is ever deleted through MCP.

Changes in Jira (move, comment, assign) are not offered over MCP. Use the SeamTrail agent for those.

It stays up to date

  • Every answer about a feature says what changed since your assistant last looked. Your assistant can pass the news on to you.
  • If someone replaced or contradicted your decision, your assistant tells you once.
  • SeamTrail gives every assistant the same rules: read first, save decisions and blockers, keep the memory true, and say who decided what and when.

It acts as you

  • Your assistant sees only the features you are on, with your role.
  • Live reads of your tools use your own login. It never sees more than you can.
  • Its notes carry your name and the assistant's name. They count as claimed until a person confirms them. See Memory.
  • Each person and assistant can save up to 30 notes and ask up to 60 questions an hour.
  • You can have up to 10 connected assistants at a time.

To see or remove an assistant: avatar → Connect an AI assistant → Revoke. A revoked assistant is refused on its next call.

In more than one org?

An assistant connects to the org you are in when you click Allow. To use another org, switch to it in SeamTrail first. See Companies and orgs.
