Companies and orgs
A company holds one or many orgs. Each org has its own tools, people and data.
SeamTrail is set up in levels:
Company
└── Org (one or many)
└── Workspace (one or many)
├── Team
└── FeatureThis page covers the top two levels. See Workspaces and teams for the rest.
Company
A company is your customer account. It holds one or many orgs.
Org
An org is a separate unit with its own tools, workspaces, people and data. For example, a subsidiary, or a client of an agency.
Each org's data is kept apart from every other org's data. See Security.
Sign up and create your company
When you sign up without an invite, SeamTrail asks you to create your company.
- SeamTrail creates the company and its first org.
- The first org gets the company's name, unless you pick another one.
- You are the Admin of both.
Were you invited? Then you skip this step. The invite puts you straight into the right org, with the right role.
Company Admins and Managers
A company Admin is an Admin of every org in the company. A company Manager is a Manager of every org.
Only a company Admin can add an org:
- Open the Orgs tab in the left menu.
- Click New org (or + New org in the left menu).
- Type a name and click Create org. You become its Admin, and SeamTrail opens it.
Company Admins rename the company and choose its Admins and Managers in Settings → Company. See Settings.
The left menu
The left menu shows the places you run:
| You run | Tab you see |
|---|---|
| A company (as its Admin or Manager), or two or more orgs | Orgs |
| One org | Org: it opens that org |
| Two or more workspaces (and not their org) | Workspaces |
| Two or more teams (and not their workspace) | Teams |
| One workspace or one team | Workspace or Team: it opens that place |
| Nothing | No tab. Use Features. |
Under the tab, a tree lists your places. The place you have open unfolds to show the level below, with + New where you may create one.
Each place has a page:
- An org: its workspaces and its people.
- A workspace: its teams and its features.
- A team: its people, where its work lives, and its features.
Each page has a Settings button. See Settings.
Switch between orgs
People in more than one org use the company card at the top of the left menu: click it.
- It lists every org you belong to, with your role in each.
- A ✓ marks the org you are in.
- When you belong to more than one org or company, it shows the company's name and groups the orgs by company.
Opening another org from the Orgs tab moves you into it too.
When you sign in, SeamTrail opens the org you used last.
What stays inside an org
Each org has its own:
- connected tools,
- workspaces, teams and features,
- people and roles,
- memory, usage and audit log.
An AI assistant connects to one org: the one you are in when you click Allow. See Connect an AI assistant.
