Deleting and archiving
Nothing is deleted at once. A deleted workspace, team or feature can be restored for 15 days, an org or a company for 30 days; then it is erased for good. A finished feature can be archived and kept as memory.
Nothing is deleted at once
When an Admin deletes a workspace, a team or a feature:
- It disappears at once, for everyone. It is no longer listed or opened, and SeamTrail stops reading its tools.
- It waits 15 days. Until then an Admin can restore it, exactly as it was.
- Then it is erased for good, with everything in it: its memory, links, stages, people and settings in SeamTrail.
SeamTrail never deletes anything in your tools. Jira tickets, Confluence pages, Slack channels, Google Docs and repositories stay where they are.
What goes with it
| You delete | What goes with it | What stays |
|---|---|---|
| A feature | Its memory, linked items, stages and people's places on it. | Everything in your tools. |
| A team | Its people's places in it, its repositories and channels, its delivery rules. | The features it works on: the team is only taken off them. |
| A workspace | All its teams and features, with everything above. | Everything in your tools. |
What was deleted together comes back together. If you restore a workspace, its teams and features come back with it. A feature deleted on its own before stays deleted. A feature or team can't be restored while its workspace is deleted: restore the workspace first.
Who can delete and restore
- A feature: its Admins, or an Admin of its workspace or org.
- A team: its Admins, or an Admin of its workspace or org.
- A workspace: its Admins, or an Admin of the org.
- An org: its Admins, or an Admin of its company.
- A company: its Admins.
- Your account: only you.
Only Admins see what was deleted.
Delete something
- A feature: open its settings (the gear button) → Archive or delete → Delete.
- A team or a workspace: Settings → General → Delete.
Before anything happens, a window shows:
- the path, for example Acme › Acme India › Payments › Checkout;
- what goes with it, with counts;
- what stays;
- the date it will be erased;
- how many people are told.
You type its name to confirm.
Restore something
- Org Settings → Deleted: everything deleted in the org (org Admins).
- Workspace Settings → Deleted: the teams and features deleted in that workspace (its Admins).
- Company Settings → Deleted orgs: the company's deleted orgs (company Admins).
- Your Settings → Deleted: what you deleted, and what you can restore — orgs and companies too.
Each row shows the path, who deleted it and when, and the date it will be erased. Click Restore.
Who is told
The people of the place get a notice under the bell at the top of the page when it is deleted, restored, archived or unarchived. For an org or a company, that means everyone in it, and its company's Admins. When it is erased, the person who deleted it and its Admins are told.
Archive a finished feature
A feature that is done can be archived instead of deleted: its settings → Archive or delete → Archive.
An archived feature is kept as memory only:
- Everyone on it can still open it, read its memory and ask SeamTrail about it.
- Nothing new is read from its tools, no drift is checked, and nothing on it changes.
- It is never erased.
Archived features are hidden from the features list. Click Archived next to the search to see them. Its Admins can Unarchive it at any time.
Delete an org or a company
An org or a company waits 30 days instead of 15.
- An org: its Admins, or an Admin of its company, open the org's Settings → General → Delete org. It goes with all its workspaces, teams and features.
- A company: a company Admin opens Settings → Company → Delete company. It goes with all its orgs.
The window shows what goes (workspaces, teams, features, memories, tool connections, people), the erase date and who is told, and asks you to type the name.
While it waits:
- Nobody can open it. It leaves everyone's list of orgs. Anyone who was in it is moved to their next org the next time the page loads. If they have no other org, they are asked to create one.
- SeamTrail stops reading its tools and runs nothing for it.
- Restore it from your own Settings → Deleted: an Admin of the org, or of its company. A company Admin also sees its deleted orgs in Settings → Company → Deleted orgs.
- An org deleted together with its company comes back only with the company.
When the date comes, everything of it in SeamTrail is erased: its workspaces, teams, features and memory; its people's places in it, its invites, settings and audit log; and its tool connections and tokens. SeamTrail also removes its own webhooks from your tools. Only a bare record stays: that an org or company with that ID was erased, when, and by whom. It keeps no names and no content.
Delete your account
Open your Settings → Profile → Delete my account. Your account waits 30 days.
The window shows:
- what goes: your place in every org, your own logins to the tools and your AI assistants' tokens, your conversations with the SeamTrail agent, your notices and settings, and your sign-in;
- what stays: what you wrote or decided in features. It is your org's record; your name stops showing next to it.
You type your email to confirm.
If you are the only Admin of something (a company, an org or a feature), the window lists it. The best path is to make someone else its Admin first, then come back. If you still want to delete your account, tick Delete them with my account:
- each of those places waits its own time: 30 days for an org or company, 15 for a feature;
- an Admin above it can restore it;
- its people are told.
While your account waits:
- SeamTrail closes for you. Signing in shows only Restore my account and Sign out. Your AI assistants are refused too.
- Restoring brings your account back exactly as it was. Places you chose to delete with it stay deleted; their Admins can restore them.
When the date comes, everything of yours is erased: in every org you were in, your sign-in at WorkOS, and SeamTrail's own records of you. Only a bare record stays: that an account with that ID was erased, and when. If you sign up again with the same email later, you start as a new person.
